Labor puts Virgin on notice about its next chief executive

Employment Minister Murray Watt says Virgin Australia should carefully consider the industrial relations track record of the person who succeeds Jayne Hrdlicka as chief executive, a pointed reference to a senior figure in the airline widely expected to be appointed to the top job.

Paul Jones, Virgin’s chief customer officer, is the frontrunner to succeed Ms Hrdlicka, who flagged her retirement on February 20 last year.
