Heading to Melbourne for the footy? It might pay to book a stop-over

Interstate footy fans are expected to swamp Melbourne for this weekend’s AFL grand final, driving airfares sky-high and hotel rates through the roof.
Flight Centre said hotel bookings in Melbourne had gone up 45 per cent since last weekend and flight bookings by 15 per cent. But the travel booking agency said savvy fans could book cost-effective flights if they looked hard enough.
