EVs can’t shake sceptical motorists despite steep price falls

Electric vehicles have fallen to their lowest proportion of new cars purchased in more than two years as motorists become increasingly concerned about resale values and the cost of repairs.

The Toyota RAV4 was the biggest-selling new vehicle in January, according to figures compiled by the automotive industry, followed by the Ford Ranger ute and the Toyota HiLux. But sales of Tesla, the most popular electric carmaker, slumped by a third compared with the same month last year.
