Powered by electricity, clad with recycled plastic panels, trimmed in compressed kenaf fibre, and built in a plant in Leipzig that runs on wind generators, the BMW i3 is as green as a car that isn't available in green can be (ours was silver and black).

It's also a very competent city car, which combines many familiar BMW attributes and luxuries with zero local emissions, silent running and zippy acceleration.
