Ardent Leisure Group has been fined $3.6 million for the death of four tourists at its Dreamworld theme park on the Gold Coast in 2016, but executives have escaped punishment.

The fine, imposed in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, is the largest in Queensland's history for a workplace incident, but fell short of the maximum $4.5 million penalty allowed.
