Optus has secured greater low-band spectrum capacity to TPG Telecom and nearly caught up to Telstra after it splurged $1.5 billion on licence slots key to its regional 5G ambitions from the government.

Optus won 12 of the 16 slots and Telstra got the remaining four slots, paying $615,000. Quentin Jones
