Australia’s biggest telco companies have asked the government to slash the prices they are charged for the radio waves that transmit mobile phone calls, but academics say they are being handed a finite resource on the cheap.
Telstra, Optus and TPG Telecom all claim that they are being asked to pay too much to renew licences for spectrum – the frequencies used to transmit wireless services.
