NBN Co grants telcos lockdown relief

NBN Co has caved in to industry pressure and will hand retail internet providers like Telstra, Optus and TPG Telecom collectively $5.2 million of credit to offset excess capacity fees as locked down users flock online during the latest wave of COVID-19 lockdowns.

The relief failed to placate at least one of the telcos after they asked for a free 40 per cent hike to their network capacity, as was given to them last year to offset unexpected increases in internet usage over the pandemic. James Alcock
