Geoff Wilson's WAM Capital bids for Amaysim
Fund manager Geoff Wilson says his firm's unorthodox bid to buy all the shares in soon-to-be-liquidated telco Amaysim may be "opportunistic", but he insists it is good value for everyone involved.
The deal, done through one of Wilson Asset Management's listed investment companies WAM Capital, comes after telco giant Optus agreed to buy Amaysim's core mobile business. Amaysim already sold its energy business to AGL earlier this year, meaning without the mobile business it has no revenue and will be wound up.
