The pandemic “should have been a golden age for telcos”, Optus boss Kelly Bayer Rosmarin says, yet structural issues have depressed profit margins to such an extent that the focus of the company is now on its technology.

Centred on the ‘Optus Living Network’ of on-demand features, the Singtel-owned telco is keen to position itself as a technology firm as much as it is a telecommunication service provider, part of a broader strategy to bolster the brand and lure customers back to higher-margin products.
