The rescheduled Tokyo Olympic games will start on 23 July 2021, almost a year to the day after the date they were due to begin this year, the International Olympic Committee said late on Monday.
Athletes who have already qualified and quota places already assigned will remain unchanged for the rescheduled Games of the XXXII Olympiad, the IOC said, less than a week after officially delaying the four-yearly tournament as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
