Hawthorn premiership player Andy Gowers has secured victory in the club’s bitterly contested presidential election, ousting outgoing president Jeff Kennett’s preferred successor Peter Nankivell.
The architect of Daniel Andrews’ thumping election win and, until recently, Victoria’s deputy premier, James Merlino was also elected to the board in an emphatic victory for the Hawks for Change movement.
