Australia’s 62-year-old Olympic medallist has an 85-year-old coach

Australia’s oldest Olympic medallist, Andrew Hoy, who has an 85-year-old coach, said there was no reason why he and the horse he described as the “the Usain Bolt of the equestrian industry” couldn’t take part in the summer Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

The 62-year-old Hoy, who with horse Vassily de Lassos on Monday took silver in the team event jumping contest with fellow contestants Kevin McNab and Shane Rose and bronze in the individual event jumping contest, said it would be realistic for he and his horse to aim for Hoy’s ninth summer Olympic Games in just three years’ time.
