What recession? A dozen horses sold for $1m each at Magic Millions

Magic Millions horse auction co-owner Katie Page-Harvey is dreaming big. ”Imagine if we end up doing quarter of a billion dollars by next week – that would be off the charts,” she said on the Gold Coast shortly after a colt sold for a record-breaking $2.7 million on Thursday afternoon.

The bay colt bred by Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum at Segenhoe Stud in NSW broke the record price set only 24 hours earlier by another Hunter Valley yearling – a filly from Widden Stud that sold for $2.6 million to Chinese billionaire Yuesheng Zhang on Wednesday.
