Woolworths CEO apologises for MyDeal data breach

Woolworths chief executive Brad Banducci says the retailer is doubling down on efforts in cybersecurity, and moved to assure investors and customers at the supermarket giant’s annual meeting that it takes data security seriously, after a breach at its MyDeal.com marketplace business.

The cyber incident affected 2.2 million MyDeal customers, and he apologised “unreservedly ... for the considerable concern that this has caused our affected customers”.
