Rebel, Supercheap Auto sales boom but a slowdown is here
Key Points
- Why it matters: Super Retail is a major seller of sport apparel and auto parts
- The group delivered positive sales growth in the new financial year driven by Supercheap Auto and BCF.
- It will pay a special dividend of 25¢ per share and a final dividend of 44¢
Super Retail Group chief executive Anthony Heraghty says the fall in apparel sales across the group early in the new year was driven by warm weather but Australians are still willing to invest in leisure activities even amid a tightening consumer environment.
Working from home has allowed customers to have more time for exercise and sport, and the lower ticket prices across its brands – which include Supercheap Auto, Rebel, BCF and Macpac – leaves the retailer well-positioned for a more value-conscious consumer.
