Myer executive chairwoman Olivia Wirth says sales during the crucial Black Friday period have been encouraging despite a challenging start to the year as pressure on family budgets cut into spending.
Ms Wirth used her first annual meeting to sell the department store operator’s shareholders on a plan to merge with fashion brands owned by Solomon Lew’s Premier Investments, such as youth chains Jay Jays and Dotti.
