Strong profits at the Australian arm of Diageo, which owns Johnnie Walker, Gordon's Gin and Bundaberg Rum, have been fuelled by robust 32 per cent growth in the overall gin category and younger drinkers firing off Instagram snaps of cocktails.
David Smith, the managing director of Diageo Australia, said the business, which has a 30 per cent market share in spirits, was experiencing a sweet spot, but had also been investing heavily in brand-building and new products.
