Hit to Woolworths sales from strike grows to $140m, expected to rise
A near-three-week strike at Woolworths’ distribution centres will cost the supermarket giant at least $140 million in lost sales and higher costs, with the company warning the full financial hit is not yet clear.
Woolworths and the United Workers Union, which represents employees at the company’s warehouses, reached a deal on Saturday to end 17 days of industrial action at four distribution centres in Victoria and NSW.
