Women’s fashion retailer City Chic had a bumper Black Friday and Christmas sales result at its Australia and New Zealand stores, fanning hopes the Brett Blundy-backed retailer has succeeded with its turnaround as it returns to profitability.

The update comes just one day after rivals Myer and Premier Investments said they both faced challenging retail conditions in December and weak Boxing Day sales despite a strong showing on Black Friday.
