City businesses 'decimated' by Melbourne's virus outbreak

Surrounded by fur-trimmed capes imported from New York, leather jackets from Turkey and suits from Germany, Jacqui Fernandes sits behind the counter in her empty shop in Melbourne's CBD.

Her high-end women's clothing business in Collins Place mall was on track for an exceptional year, having recorded the best sales in its 35-year history in February. "And then it died in March," she tells The Australian Financial Review.
