Chief executives of large Australian companies have generally backed the Albanese government’s moves to try to lift housing supply but some expressed concern about the inflationary effect of the budget’s $3.5 billion of electricity bill consumer discounts.
With the July 1 tax cuts already likely to pump an extra $50 billion into the economy, bosses said that overall inflation needs to be curbed because it hurts both households and businesses.
