Accolade Wines to squeeze grape suppliers under new owners

Accolade Wines is renegotiating the terms of its largest grape supply contract as part of plans to reinvigorate the business under its new owners, led by Bain Special Situations.

The Carlyle Group agreed to relinquish control of the company, the country’s second-largest wine producer, to the consortium led by the special distressed debt player after owning the business for five years. Carlyle bought Accolade in 2018 for $1 billion.
