Former Brisbane nightclub owner Tony Bellino will be ruing his decision to knock back an $80,000 offer from The Courier Mail to settle a defamation case with the newspaper.
Justice Geoffrey Flick revealed on Thursday that it came after Bellino took offence to a story in 2017 that marked 30 years since the landmark Fitzgerald inquiry into police corruption.
