EY and APRA stand by auditor independence
EY's submission to a parliamentary inquiry into audit quality defended the firm's ability to provide both audit and consulting services without losing independence.
The firm, formerly known as Ernst and Young, carried out an independent prudential report for NAB while it was also the bank's auditor, a move that is widely considered to have been a trigger for the inquiry by the parliamentary joint committee on corporations and financial services.
