40-hour weeks: Big four bosses defend junior staff hours

Top executives from the big four consulting groups told a parliamentary inquiry their staff average 7.5 hours work per day at the end of a year in which junior corporate workers started pushing back on their work conditions.

The inquiry into audit quality probed witnesses on workplace safety in December, after several submissions raised concerns that long hours and poor conditions were affecting the standard of audit work produced.
