Last Friday, alongside our chief executive Mike Henry, I was present at the Palácio do Planalto in Brasília, Brazil, for the signing of an agreement between Brazilian authorities and Samarco, BHP Brasil and Vale.
Years in the making, the agreement will deliver over $US31.7 billion ($48 billion) of compensation and support to the Brazilian people, communities and environment impacted by the failure of Samarco’s Fundão tailings dam in 2015.
