Western Australia won’t stop leveraging its political and economic power to lobby Canberra into watering down environmental protection reforms, as Premier Roger Cook warns the Albanese government against cutting a deal with the Greens to pass the controversial legislation.
The prime minister last week flagged significant concessions to the Nature Positive reforms following months of intense lobbying from the state government and major miners, but Mr Cook indicated on Sunday he had no intention of easing pressure on Canberra.
