More than 640 workers locked down at remote gold mine

More than 640 workers are confined to their single-room quarters and having meals delivered to their door as gold miner Newmont Corporation deals with the fallout from a COVID-19 outbreak at its remote Tanami operations in the Northern Territory.

There were about 700 workers at the Tanami mine, 540 kilometres north-west of Alice Springs, when it went into lockdown on Saturday.
