Investors urged to snub BHP’s climate plan
BHP shareholders have been advised to vote against the “climate transition action plan” launched by the company earlier this month, with a proxy adviser expressing concerns over whether the plan is aligned with the goals of the 2015 Paris Climate Accord.
BHP will give shareholders a vote on the climate plan at annual meetings in London and Australia over the next month, and although the result of the vote will not be binding on BHP management, it is intended to provide investors with an avenue for feedback on the plan.
