Indigenous group emerges as ally for miners fighting heritage law

Mining companies and farmers have found support in an unlikely place for their push to overturn new Aboriginal cultural heritage laws in Western Australia that they claim will hold up new projects – Indigenous groups.

The Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation, an Indigenous group with lands covering prime farming country and an emerging critical minerals precinct, says it has “no desire to be bogged down in any government-imposed compliance or permitting” for new projects.
