The big debate in critical minerals is on further processing

The only way Australia will develop significant critical minerals processing capabilities is with a major government intervention such as a domestic reservation policy or large tax breaks, some of the country’s top mining executives say.

Speaking at The Australian Financial Review Mining Summit in Perth on Wednesday, the executives described the Biden administration’s $US369 billion ($547 billion) clean energy transition package – the Inflation Reduction Act – as a catalyst for a scramble to develop the sector.
