The United States is unlikely to challenge Australia’s dominance over coal exports to China, leading analysts say, although Donald Trump’s push to reinvigorate the domestic industry will weigh on global prices.
The US president, who refers to the fossil fuel as “beautiful, clean coal”, has pledged to resuscitate the flagging industry by designating coal as a critical mineral and encouraging its use for power generation.
