Albemarle’s downstream lithium spend in WA to hit $4b
Battery chemicals giant Albemarle will double the size of its existing lithium hydroxide plant in Western Australia in a move set to push its investment in downstream processing in the south-west corner of the state to more than $4 billion.
Albemarle signed off on building processing trains 3 and 4 at the Kemerton operations near Bunbury while plotting the next move with its spurned $5.5 billion bid for WA-based lithium play Liontown Resources.
