TV players face defamation action over alleged racial slurs

Australia’s major TV players face a defamation action brought by three men over broadcasts they claim suggested they were “racist” and ejected from a NRL match for allegedly racially vilifying an Indigenous player.

William Thurston, Cherokee Townsend and Joshua Renner are suing Nine Entertainment, Seven West Media, Network Ten and Foxtel based on different broadcasts on TV and online relating to the incident.
