TV networks prepare for second half of 2020 COVID-19 marathon

The great paradox of 2020 has been that while audiences are thirstier than ever for news, entertainment and sport, the behind-the-scenes logistics of getting that content on air has never been more vexing.

Television executives at free-to-air broadcasters Seven West Media, Nine and Network Ten are relieved to be halfway through the most disruptive year of their careers, but no one is exhaling yet.

Getting to the end of the year and being able to put out a consistent slate of quality shows during a once-in-100-year global pandemic "is a marathon, not a sprint", Nine chief sales officer Michael Stephenson said.
