ABC staffer takes broadcaster to court in test case

The journalists’ union is bringing one of the first tests of Labor’s changes to fixed-term contract limits, alleging the ABC is pushing staff into multiple short-term contracts and failing to offer job security.

The Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance filed a complaint against the public broadcaster in the Federal Court on Wednesday on behalf of a union member who works on the long-running Play School program. The person’s name was not disclosed.
