Labor and Greens call for judicial inquiry into media diversity

A Liberal senator has rubbished the call by Labor and the Greens for a judicial inquiry into Australian media ownership, branding it a “political stunt”.
A Labor and Greens-led report issued on Thursday recommends an inquiry with the powers of a royal commission be established to examine whether the existing system of media regulation is sufficient to promote a diverse news media landscape.
