They're the hugely powerful gatekeepers of the internet and they're happy to vacuum up the lion's share of digital advertising revenue across the world – just don't ask them to take responsibility for it.

That might be fine if the digital giants Google and Facebook actually created journalism and replaced the media businesses they've disrupted.
