Brendan Nelson ‘cautioned’ over association with Ben Roberts-Smith

Former federal defence minister Brendan Nelson says he was cautioned by a senior government figure about his support for Ben Roberts-Smith following the publication for articles which the former special forces soldier alleges are defamatory.

Dr Nelson, a former director of the Australian War Memorial and federal opposition leader, gave reputation evidence for Mr Roberts-Smith on Monday in the ex-Special Air Service soldier’s defamation action against Nine (publisher of The Australian Financial Review).
