ABC to cut $40m, 250 jobs to go

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation will make 250 staff redundant, slash its independent production budget, axe the controversial ABC Life platform, rebrand ABC Comedy and cut single-medium-focused news to create more cross-platform services to save $40 million.

Managing director David Anderson outlined the cost-saving program in the ABC's five-year plan for 2020-2025, the first since he took over the public broadcaster in 2018.
