Food producers taking a hit on power prices in Victoria
Major food, juice and infant formula maker SPC Global says that a 16 per cent rise in energy prices for its operations across Victoria was out of line with other states and is impacting its regional operations and the price of basic food and drink.
The plea comes as the collapse of a wind turbine in western Victoria following a night of heavy thunderstorms prompted the opposition to call for an urgent audit of the state’s wind farms, amid debate about the security of energy supply and whether the government needs to get more gas into the system.
