Cement groups need tech breakthrough for big emissions cuts
Cement companies need a major chemical technology breakthrough to make big cuts in carbon emissions beyond 2030, but in the medium term Australia’s largest cement group, Adbri, has outlined plans to prune emissions gradually in two of its biggest businesses.
Adbri chief executive Nick Miller said the company has set a target of cutting emissions by 20 per cent across its cement business by 2030, and reducing emissions by 10 per cent in its lime operations. Adbri is a large supplier of lime to the mining industry, where it is mainly used in mineral processing.
