BlueScope’s US profit powerhouse revs faster
The United States steel market continues to be a profit powerhouse for Australia’s largest steelmaker, BlueScope, which has raised its full-year profit forecast range by about 12 per cent as prices and margins in the US strengthen.
Chief executive Mark Vassella said it was the North Star steel-making plant in Ohio and the group’s coated steel products businesses in California and Washington that have propelled profits higher than expected.
