Governments ask if contractors can cope with infrastructure boom
Governments are reviewing contractors’ supply chains before awarding new infrastructure contracts because of concerns companies will be unable to deliver projects due to the soaring costs of labour and building materials, consultants say.
Jason Ireland, a partner at advisory and restructuring group McGrathNicol specialising in construction, said the firm was being asked by governments how they could better evaluate contractors’ ability to complete projects because they were worried about more construction groups failing.
