EV charging providers demand review of outdated energy tariffs

Climate and Energy Minister Chris Bowen has rebuffed calls from electric vehicle charging players to overhaul the design of tariffs levied on them by distribution companies, which they say are driving up costs and slowing the take-up of EVs.

The chief executives of Evie Networks and EVX Australia said operators of poles and wires were charging them for distribution under models designed for businesses with predictable energy use patterns, such as factories.
