Atlas Arteria’s aspirations to raise tolls on its US road, the Dulles Greenway, by up to 40 per cent next year have been dashed after a regulator denied its request.
In a final order after months of hearings, Virginia’s State Corporation Commission said it had been persuaded by arguments that Atlas Arteria had failed to establish that the proposed price increases would be “reasonable to the user in relation to the benefit obtained” and that they would not discourage use of the toll road.
