Corruption watchdog targets Downer staff in transport projects probe

The NSW corruption watchdog says it is investigating staff employed by Downer EDI, one of the country’s largest contractors, for allegedly obtaining personal benefits while securing contractors for major transport projects.

The investigation, disclosed by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, was disclosed on Thursday, one day after the company’s chief financial officer said he would leave Downer following an admission of errors in the group’s accounts and a steep fall in profit.
