Boral hit by 'financial irregularities' in US windows

Building products group Boral has begun a forensic investigation into ''financial irregularities'' in its North American windows operations which could result in a one-off earnings hit of up to $US30 million ($44 million).

Boral chief executive Mike Kane said late on Thursday the company was undertaking a ''comprehensive and urgent investigation of this matter to fully understand the events and what we need to do in order to address the problem''.
