Mark Awerbuch flew to Israel at huge expense to get life-saving treatment for his cancer – only to find out he could have had it done in Australia.

Dr Mark Awerbuch travelled halfway around the world at great expense to receive treatment for his cancer that he could have got at home. 

If Dr Mark Awerbuch has one message for patients it's that they should not assume their doctors know everything there is to know about their disease.

From personal experience as a patient, he says even highly respected doctors at the top of their fields “simply don’t know what they don’t know”.
